ABOUT

Emma Miles | Separation Lawyer

Relationship Property Lawyer

Emma is a Separation Lawyer specializing in the division of Relationship Property. She is highly skilled in handling sensitive legal matters, whether at the start of a relationship, when issues arise, or during a full separation.

While Emma is prepared to use the Court system when necessary, she prefers Alternative Dispute Resolution to settle disputes, particularly when an ongoing relationship, such as co-parenting, requires consideration. To support this, Emma is a trained Mediator and Collaborative Lawyer, and she frequently receives referrals from other lawyers for these services.

Emma credits her success in resolving even the most complex emotional disputes to her extensive psychological training and mature perspective. She is capable of representing clients in both amicable separations where terms have been agreed upon and in cases where the relationship has irreparably broken down.

Emma was born in Bristol, England. She moved to Bath, England in her teenage years where she began her journey into her legal career by studying Psychology and Law at the Bath College of Further Education. Emma then attended Bath Spa University and studied a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Psychology before moving to New Zealand in 2000 and completing her LL.B law degree at the University of Waikato in 2011.

Emma has developed, owned and operated, multiple successful businesses over the past 30 years both in the UK and NZ.

Outside of the law, Emma enjoys spending time with friends or family, enjoying the beauty of New Zealand, or sampling New Zealand wines and her favourite Single Malt Whiskies.

Emma is happy to have a brief no obligation chat on the phone if you believe you may require her services.
